Description
All bills and a weekly cleaner are included in the rental price.
Lambeth council tax band C (this is included in the rent). Zone 3 for travel.
This is a double bedroom in my 2-bedroom flat. I'm looking for someone who wants a cozy and peaceful shared home. I’ve lived in house-shares for most of my adult life, I’m not territorial about space. My current lodger has left only because she's moved back to Canada, she's been with me for 3 very happy years and I'm sure she'd be prepared to give me a reference if required :) Bonus: things get fixed/replaced quickly with a live-in landlord.
The room:
Good size, nice high ceilings, fully furnished: comfortable double bed, chest of drawers, triple wardrobe, large desk and office chair. It gets a lot of light so it's nice and bright.
The flat:
Recently refurbished ground floor in a lovely 1930s block, set back from the main road so it is quite quiet. Very spacious with some original features. WiFi included (with extenders so good coverage). Separate well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washer-dryer, fridge-freezer etc, all pans, crockery as well. Bathroom with good water pressure in the shower (very important!). Sitting room with comfy sofas and dining table. TV has Sky, Netflix, Disney etc.
Very close to Streatham station for Thameslink and Southern into the City and Croydon. Walking distance to Streatham Hill and Streatham Common stations. Buses to Tooting Broadway/Bec (also walkable) for the Northern line and Brixton for the Victoria line from outside the flat. Really well-served by bus routes and public transport generally. The 333, 57 and 201 stop practically outside the flat.
There's a large Tesco, M&S Foodhall and ALDI around 5 minutes walk, various gyms (Virgin, Pure and The Gym to name just a few), restaurants, pubs etc nearby. There's a Gail's bakery opening on the high street soon so Streatham is officially gentrified (jk).
No garden but Tooting Bec Common and Streatham Common are both in short walking/running distance. Parkrun is held on Tooting Bec Common.
Sadly there’s no bike storage available and parking is on-street but requires a permit as Lambeth have introduced CPZs.
About myself:
I'm a friendly 39 year old civil servant who goes into the office a couple of times a week and WFH the rest of the time. I do have a decent social life but I also enjoy downtime and recharging the batteries. I'm a bit of a trash tv fan (anything Real Housewives, MAFS, Love Island and that sphere) and generally up for a chat about anything although I do like spending time in my room with a book.
I enjoy exploring London, going for coffee/to the pub, reading, walking, cooking, theatre, gigs (not enough!) and a bit of culture thrown in as well.
LGBTQIA+ friendly.
My ideal flatmate:
I’m looking for a mature and self-sufficient female, someone who would be happy to chat over a glass of wine/cup of tea and a tv series/movie but who also has their own social life.
Someone who does their socialising outside the flat, doesn’t want to hold regular dinner parties and doesn’t have regular overnight guests is preferred.
I’m also looking for someone who is not working from home full-time, a couple of days per week is fine.
The room is available now but I’m happy to wait for the right person. I can also consider a Monday to Friday arrangement at a reduced rate.
Rent is £950 per month (including all bills and regular cleaner) and deposit is £600. 6 month minimum contract preferred but happy to be flexible. I’ll be using an agency to complete reference checks.
Please get in touch with any questions and to arrange a viewing :)
