Description
En-Suite Double Room in a Georgian Townhouse Conversion — Vauxhall/Oval
Available Immediately · £1,400 pcm including all bills · Looking for a considerate dog-loving lodger.
We're a friendly, creative couple (three if you count our French bulldog) looking for a lodger to share our first-floor apartment in a converted Georgian townhouse, tucked between Vauxhall and Oval.
The flat has high ceilings, loads of character, and a genuinely relaxed feel. It's a sociable home, cosy evenings, good conversation, often vinyl playing, and the odd creaky floorboard.
🛏️ The room and flat
Your room is a generous double on the front of the building, with its own private en-suite bathroom — toilet, sink, and shower, all yours.
It's fully furnished with:
Comfortable double bed
Two tall built-in wardrobes with loads of shelving
Built-in bookcase
Full-length mirror
Window has secondary glazing (for optimal noise reduction and draft proofing)
Projector screen (pulls down from the ceiling)
The rest of the flat is shared and feels like home. The living room and dining room is warm and characterful, with books, plants, plenty of seating, a dining table, record player, smart TV. The kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine, and fridge-freezer.
We also have a south-facing terrace (accessed through the study) — perfect for barbecues, al fresco dining, relaxing outside, etc.
📍 Location
Vauxhall station: ~4 minutes' walk
Oval station: ~8 minutes' walk
Victoria Line, Northern Line, National Rail, and buses close by, so getting around London is easy
👋 About us
We're a laid-back couple who both work partly from home, and we love having a calm, friendly home to come back to.
🎬 Filmmaker, writer, and editor. Sometimes work late, but always quietly with headphones. Into cinema, books, meditation, DIY, and making unnecessarily elaborate things by hand.
👨🍳 Partner is a former chef now running his own business in the food industry. He loves cooking, DIY, painting, and adding to his expanding vinyl collection.
🐕 We also live with a very charming French bulldog, who loves cuddles, naps, films, and her local social life, so a genuine soft spot for dogs would be ideal. She's not really a barker.
🎵 Music is often on, but we're always mindful of volume and everyone's schedules.
🚬 I smoke roll-ups (outside on the terrace). We drink occasionally but aren't big drinkers. This is a drug-free home.
📋 A little about how the flat works day-to-day
(Nothing strict here, just a few things that help everyone feel comfortable:)
We've found the flat feels most relaxed when working from home is kept to around 1–2 days a week each, just so it doesn't get too crowded during the day.
You're very welcome to have friends or partners to stay — a couple of nights a week works well, and a quick heads-up beforehand just helps everyone stay in the loop.
The shared spaces are there to be enjoyed by everyone, so we try not to set up camp in them for too long at a time.
We're easygoing, not big on house meetings, we just like to keep communication open and honest.
🎯 Who we're looking for
A friendly, considerate lodger who'd enjoy a peaceful, welcoming home, tidies up after themselves, enjoys the company of dogs. Someone easygoing who's happy to share the occasional meal, film, or drink, and who'll help keep the good atmosphere going.

It also helps to know roughly how many days a week you'd usually be working from home, and how often you might have overnight guests, just so we can get a feel for whether we'd be a good match.
If this sounds like your kind of home, we'd genuinely love to hear from you.
Thanks for your patience if we're not instant repliers, we're both juggling busy schedules, but we'll always come back to you within 24 hours.
