House of international young professionals looking for a fifth comrade in the struggle against rental prices in Wimbledon. 😃
The property is spread over three floors, with a private driveway, and within a private gated road away from traffic (sort of L-shaped with some bushes etc. round the edges - very quaint).
Important: If you would like to, you can be added to the contract for greater security. Not necessary if you don't want to though!
We have a garden, shared living room, and an assorted combination of 3 toilets and 3 showers. We also have an auxiliary man-sized fridge, in addition to the built-in fridge + freezer pictured, so plenty of storage space for food.
The flat is furnished, as is the room on offer, and is in relatively good condition (for London). It's pretty clearly a family home that one child inherited without having to sell, and rented out without any additional work to it (inheritocracy is real).
The room has a private ensuite toilet (pictured), and a built-in cupboard, and with space for additional storage e. g., wardrobe, drawers etc.
Current house mates are: a couple - Alex [m] + Hazel [f], and two friends, Lesi [f] and Wan Chun [f]. The room previously belonged to a third friend, Jack, who is abandoning us to move in with his partner.
It's a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Wan Chun works in-office, Hazel works from home, Lesi and Alex are hybrid. Hazel and Wan Chun also both speak Mandarin, and Lesi speaks Ukrainian & Polish.
The location is pretty ideal. It is 8 minutes from the front door to the Northern Line platform at South Wimbledon, and 14 minutes to the District Line platform at Wimbledon (Alex timed these).
Wimbledon has pretty much every major chain store, plus 3 big supermarkets, and a smattering of local-sized ones. Two coffee shops on the road to South Wimbledon that are both excellent (Jack, as a certified Australian, can attest). Also lots of green space, and a quiet, relatively bougie vibe.
Monthly bills are currently:
£51 each for council tax
£52.7 each for energy (electricity + gas)
£9 each for broadband (this is super fast btw)
£18 each for water
Total = £130.7 per month.
