Description

I am looking for a clean and tidy flatmate to share my lovely flat and take on a fully furnished bedroom, just south of Inch Park.

- Vegetarian/plant based preferred
- LGBTQ+ friendly
- Cat friendly
- £800/month (all bills and council tax included)

The flat:
Spacious two-bedroom flat perfect for sharing among two people. Highlights are the private front and back garden, cosy living room with both couch and dining area, and large walk-in shower.
The room comes with double bed and mattress, inbuilt wardrobe, chest of drawers, mirror… and has a lovely view to the back garden (currently home to loads of squirrels). The flat is on the ground floor so would also be ideal for an outdoor cat who comes in over night. Sadly no dogs allowed as I am scared of them, sorry!
I have only just moved in and am still working on making this place my own, so if there is anything else you need for your room or in general, we can definitely have a chat!

The area:
The flat is in a quiet area just south of Inch Park. 10min walk from Cameron Toll shopping centre which has Aldi, Sainsbury’s, Gym etc, there is also a Coop, pharmacy and some take outs less than a 5min walk away. Really great access to several bus routes so it’s very straightforward to get to the city centre (25min) and out to the Royal Infirmary (20min). Loads of green spaces and lovely walk to Craigmillar Castle Park.

The vibe:
I am hoping to make my home a safe and welcoming space for everyone who enters it. I am not a big party person and prefer to keep things quiet on work nights, but I enjoy having 1-2 people over on weekends (couch works perfectly for an overnight stay), or have relatively quiet gatherings for special occasions, probably the occasional garden party over the summer. And of course you would be welcome to do the same.

I would like to keep a clean and tidy flat where we prioritise cleaning up after ourselves to keep the place. I have had my fair share of panic cleaning shared flats before guests come over and I want that to be a thing of the past. If you prefer not to do dishes every day or leave your belongings out a lot, there is absolutely no problem with that but in that case, we might not be a good fit.

I am vegetarian and try my best to live plant-based where-ever possible. Dairy products are an exception for me and I would love for my new flatmate to have a similar mindset. At the very least, I would prefer not to have any heavy meat dishes, especially raw meat in my home.

And possibly the most important bit: I LOVE cats, have done cat sitting for years and would absolutely love to welcome a cat into my home! I do not have my own cat currently so this would be the perfect moment for someone who already has a cat to join me, but in any case, you would have to be open to living with a cat in the longer-term.

Me:
Sabina, 32 y/o, originally from Germany but lived in Edinburgh for 7 years and still loving it. Working for the Uni in a student support role and will go on for hours about anything mental health related. Love knitting, swimming, long walks, exploring nature, photography, reading (but I'm such a slow reader!) and CATS.
My biggest weakness is I become unreasonably scared at movies that nobody else finds scary so will hide in my room during horror movie nights.
Have lived in shared flats all my adult life and prefer it that way, but now also creating my first own home so I have patience to wait for the right fit.

You:
Ideally around the same age as me, professional preferred but open to PhD students or someone who has gone back to studying later in life (I would also love to do the same), ideally veggie/vegan, have or would be okay living with cats, ideally working a similar day-time schedule rather than night shifts but this is not a deal breaker. As long as we get along in the flat and have similar values, you don’t need to have the same interests as me. I’m interested in learning about almost anything. Although my blind spot is movies, music, and anything popular knowledge so if this is your main/only interest, we might struggle to find something to talk about.

If you think we might be a match, please send me a message with some information about yourself and I look forward to meeting you for a viewing!
