Description
We are turning into a climbers house! Very close to EICA Ratho (5 min drive), actually kind of why I bought the house, but then didn't climb for ages. Have now started up again, Charlie is a climber and we are psyched! Currently thinking on making kit store / finger board bit. A third climber / adventurous soul to the crew would be ideal!
I am currently doing paramedic training and Charlie works in hospitality. We both have film making interests and are generally outdoorsy / expeditions type people.
The room is coming available in Dec when my exchange student moves out to go back to Germany. Charlie actually stayed in the garden in a tent for a month to come early, so if you need an instant solution, options are available 😆
The house is a nice stone cottage, rural /semi rural, commutable to Edinburgh and Glasgow. (I currently go to Glasgow via train and Charlie goes to Edinburgh by bus.) It is full of character and probably mildly wacky, suited to outdoorsy / muddy boots types, rather than constant 21 degrees towny types!
It is best to have a car for getting around to local shops, main bus and train stations and surrounding areas, although it is possible to walk to the bus stop (15 mins).
The room coming availabile has a single bed overlooking the back garden and patio. It has a large built in wardrobe, and shares the main bathroom.
I have owned and lived in the house for about 8 years, mostly with lodgers. The kitchen is the social hub where we often catch up over cooking and eating. Meals are separate but sometimes we club in and do a shared cook. This varies based on what people are doing with their lives and eating habits.
We are a quiet house at night time, with sensitivity to noise when people are resting being a priority, because good sleep is essential to a good life! We are a social, but not party house. Non home drinkers welcome / preferred.
The ideal lodger must have good awareness for others, good communication, be respectful of boundaries and honest. We do a three way share on hoovering and cleaning of the kitchen or bathroom once per week to keep the shared spaces in order.
There is loads of space in the garden and tonnes to do. I have a polytunnel and beds available for growing in. Garden enthusiasts welcome! In the summer, the lawn is also a challenge to keep on top of, so people taking their share in mowing it is appreciated / expected. Hedge cutting or any other voluntary gardening duties and generally getting involved in fun projects in the space are a BIG plus. The patio also gets to over 40 degrees in the summer as it is very sheltered and south facing, so a big plus for sun lovers. Disclaimer - I was recently in South America for one year and am still battling my way back into the garden, so it is currently a bit more overgrown than in the images!
Sofía the dog lives here, my absolute life comrad! She is very cuddly and quite fluffy - any lodger must be a dog lover and be very kind to animals. Also must not mind a bit of fluff knocking about in between cleans!
Please message with some info about yourself (or direct me to your profile if you've already written one), rough desired length of stay and anything else important.
Thank you!
Jen.
