Quiet house with great views and lovely neighbours. South-facing front room with a king-size bed, shared living spaces (lounge/diner with log burner) and driveway parking for two cars. From November, I’ll be working in Cornwall, so there’s also potential to step into a paid ‘house guardian’ role for the right person. Couples/pets considered.

A quiet household with friendly neighbours and a great view. Normally the room is let short-term as a fully serviced stay (£250 pw including weekly cleaning and linen change) or shorter stays but I am now considering a longer-term lodger (1–6 months) due to the fact that I'll be living away most of the time in Cornwall for the next few months.
Location: Windmill Hill
Rent: £600 per month with most bills included (water, electric and gas charged monthly in advance based on usage and split between 2-3 people).
Room: Furnished with king bed, chest of drawers, bedside tables, and clothes rail
Sharing with: One or two others in a two-bedroom house (my bedroom is in the garden)
House details:
- Porch entrance, shared living room with log burner, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and downstairs toilet
- Driveway parking (space for two cars) and bike storage available
- Garden is mostly private for cabin user but partially shared
- No TV licence (but sometimes the monitor in the lounge is used for a film or a match)
- House money pot for essentials (toilet roll, oil, logs etc.) to be agreed ad hoc
- Lodgers supply own bedding and use local launderette to wash and dry laundry (no wet laundry in the house)
Important note about the future:
At the moment, I live on the property in a cabin in the garden and watch over the house, keeping it to guesthouse standards for Airbnb guests.
From November onwards, I expect to be working in Cornwall. This means I’ll be away much more, and there’s potential for the right person to step into my usual role at the house.
It’s all to be discussed, so for now it’s a straightforward lodger set up and you’d be living in the house as a lodger, but longer term there could be the option to:
- Oversee the house and household tasks
- Coordinate/host short-term guests
- Possibly live in the garden cabin as the ‘house guardian’
This is optional to you and not a guaranteed opportunity that I’m offering, but it could be a great set up for someone reliable, meticulous and looking to combine affordable accommodation with a little extra income.
This place will suit someone who:
- likes a quiet, peaceful and friendly space.
- leaves their bedroom sometimes to interact with others in the house.
- can cope without a big screen in the lounge
- enjoys occasional shared mealtimes.
- knows how to maintain a fresh, clean and tidy home.
- spends time out of the house every day.
- is happy to show their ID, share references and pay a deposit.
- understands that the bank won’t accept gardening work in exchange for mortgage payments and that's why I can't either. I'm going as low as I can.
Couples and pets may be considered, depending on fit with the household. However, whilst couples could share a bedroom, pets would be downstairs and out front only.
