Description
The master en-suite is on the top floor of our three-storey, A-rated semi-detached.
Your room is the best in the house, with big windows overlooking a large green, a fitted wardrobe and decent floor space.
The photos here show how it was while relatives were using it, with their Super King size bed. This will be replaced with a standard double at some point, but with minimal disturbance to you.
You will have shared use of:
- the kitchen, which includes washing machine and dishwasher. We have softened water so cleaning and laundry is easy even without detergents, and there is filtered drinking water on tap. You can share all kitchenware.
- ground floor cloakroom with hooks for coats plus the guest W. C.
- shoe rack near the front door.
We do not use the dining area, and we would encourage you to.
You will have your own off-street allocated parking space.
There is a small garden currently consisting of lawn and paving, which you have to use to get to your car. Your cat can roam in it and you can sit in it and place a plant pot or two, but it's not for pets to do their toilet or to walk within and compact the soil too much. This is because we will gradually be turning the garden into a food-growing or/and wildlife-friendly area.
We are two older women: My elderly mother, Joan, and me. Joan is the owner of the house and has mobility issues. I was born hearing but I am now deaf. I do not work. I care for Joan.
We spend most of our time in Joan's living room on the first floor, and we eat there in front of the TV, which we watch with subtitles and no sound.
We are omnivores, but most of our diet is vegan wholefoods. I studied macrobiotics and I cook a big lunch every day.
We respect Nature and we make efforts to minimise our ecological impact on the planet. We do not kill insects, and we make the effort to reduce, reuse and recycle. The house is warm for Joan's benefit, but we otherwise endeavour to keep our energy use low. We do not keep radiators or lights on in rooms we are not using, or fill the kettle for just two cups. We use only natural cleaning products, where they are needed at all.
We would like to share our house with a mentally and emotionally mature and responsible woman (we want to stick to an all-female household), who loves nature and lives with the environment in mind, or who is willing to.
You will need to be patient and flexible about how you communicate with me due to my hearing loss.
It is important to us that you are confident about communicating with us in a fair and reasonable manner, generally, but especially if you are unhappy about anything, so we are aware and can help put things right.
Considerate friends and family may visit you, but the room is not available to couples and we are unlikely to agree to overnight stays.
We are open to living with house-trained and well-behaved pets. We were thinking of adopting a rescue animal later this year, but we would only do this if you don't already have a pet.
All the usual bills are included, including broadband and Council Tax (Tax band is D). You would pay separately for your personal phone and contents insurance.
I do all the house cleaning myself, so you would only have to keep your own room clean, and tidy up after using the kitchen.
If you like the sound of us, we look forward to hearing from you and about you.
