Hi there, I am renting out a bedroom in my house. You would be joining me and the other lodger who is a law lecturer and is here Monday to Friday (3/4 nights a week) until March 2026.
Ideally, I would like to rent to professionals however I would also welcome a mature student. Future lodger must like dogs as I sometimes do “borrow my doggy”. Well behaved dogs welcome to live here too.
Availability and Contract:
This room is available for a six months’ contract from 3 January 2026 at a rent of £830, all bills included, including a fortnightly cleaner. I provide an initial contract of 3 months with intention of extending to six months if both parties are content. I will also consider Monday to Friday at a reduced rate.
About me:
I am 42 years old, and I work for the NHS in administration. I am considerate and like a clean and tidy but relaxed home.
I would describe myself as an extroverted introvert. I enjoy meals out, theatre, seeing friends, singing in a choir, an occasional pub trip and fun days out. I adore the beach and being outdoors.
However, I also enjoy relaxing at home watching films and box sets, and cooking, reading, or doing meditation and yoga. I love board games and table tennis too.
The House Dynamic:
Its important to me to find the right dynamic and someone who fits into the house. We like to connect and have little chats over cooking/meals and look out for each other, but equally lead busy lives so not always around. We're also very much early birds so I would be looking for someone who is ideally not a night owl.
I like a clean house but not obsessive and I'll be honest washing up does sometimes get left for a day. I am flexible on move in date any time between 3rd January and end of January.
A future lodger would also need to be friendly, considerate with noise, communicative, and help keep communal areas tidy.
The House:
The house is beautiful, and spacious and is on Alfred Street, off Albany Road. 3 minutes walk to Roath park or 20-30 minute walk to city centre.
House is a Victorian terraced 3 bed with many old features. It has a bright kitchen, recently renovated sitting and dining room and landscaped garden, a beautiful light and airy sitting /dining room, bathroom with bath and shower and an extra downstairs toilet.
THE ROOMS:
The room is a medium double at the back of the house next to the bathroom and separated from the other two bedrooms. It includes a comfy double bed, cupboard, bedside table, desk and drawers, long mirror, curtains & blinds, chair, lampshade and it overlooks the garden.
THE HOUSE:
The house has been renovated to include an airy kitchen with real oak worktops and a light spacious feel in the daytime, and a cosy feel at night. Includes all modern appliances. There is a beautiful recently renovated living room / dining room, comfy sofa and smart TV with Netflix. I would be happy to discuss sharing additional streaming services.
The dining room is part of the lounge and has french doors going out into the garden.
Upstairs is a shared bathroom with toilet, large basin, bath and good shower. Additional toilet and sink downstairs.
There is very good wifi throughout the house.
The back garden is landscaped with rustic patio and shed, washing line and garden furniture.
LOCAL AREA:
The house is in the sought after Roath park area with long standing neighbours next door with other neighbours being a mix of residents and student. It has on street permit and non permit parking.
I am allowed to purchase an additional permit per house so you are welcome to apply for a permit. This is around £35 and is in addition to the rent.
Within 5 minutes’ or less walk you can get to:
Roath park rec
Plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants on Wellfield road and Albany road.
Tesco Express, corner shop, and Sainsburys
Penylan community centre
Bus stops on regular bus routes.
Cardiff city centre, the Heath hospital, Cardiff University and Roath Park lake are all within easy walking distance too.
