Our House (Near Gravel Hill / Addington, South Croydon:

We are a happy, professional male-male couple who are both self-employed (one teacher and one health & safety consultant). We would love to find the right housemate for our large spare double bedroom. The house is in a quiet, green cul-de-sac just a short walk from the Gravel Hill tram stop (12-15 minutes ride to East Croydon train station). It can sometimes be just 45 minutes from our house to Victoria station or London Bridge – very easy. Also, many buses run day and night to our nearby Gravel Hill stop - it is well connected at all times.

The large house itself is well furnished and well equipped with very high-speed broadband and the Virgin Media XL package (in your own room). The house has several bathroom-toilets and is always warm and bright. Downstairs, the large open-plan living-dining-kitchen area is spacious, homely and modern with underfloor heating. The kitchen area is well equipped with all mod-cons such as a coffee-maker, microwave, dishwasher as well as providing you plenty of fridge-freezer and cupboard space. We have a daily cleaner who keeps the house looking nice (but we would also like someone who does their share of house duties.) The utility room contains the washing machine and tumble drier (for which we would appreciate a fair-use policy). We enjoy meals at the dining table or out in the garden during summer. The garden itself is sprawling, green and very peaceful with a patio just outside the living area. We enjoy feeding the birds, squirrels and looking out for badgers!

The Room

This large (over 14m2) bright, double room is fully furnished. It has two large wardrobes for excellent storage, a bedside table, lamp and a table with chair. A TV with Virgin Media is free for you to enjoy along with fast Wi-Fi. We are happy to change furniture, within reason, to suit the new person.

The Lodger / Housemate

We are looking for a very tidy, non-smoking professional person with a full-time day job. You’ll be the type of person who enjoys a quieter house to live in but may also appreciate that you have quick and easy transport connections to the bustling city-life, shops and entertainment.
You will understand that this is our family home and that we work from home. We do have regular clients visit the house. Trust, security and safety are very important to us and so you will have excellent references.

Consideration, fairness and friendliness are very important to us.

Previous lodgers have usually enjoyed our house so much that they stay for years.
