Description

A bright and spacious single room in our family home. Located within walking distance of Horley town centre and a 5 minute drive from Gatwick Airport. There are convenience stores and restaurants within walking distance.

The room is bright, spacious and comfortable. There is a triple bunk bed at present, but we envisage removing 2 of the bunks and leaving you with the single bed (brand new with new mattress), chest of drawers and an arm chair and foot stool. The furniture can be removed if you would prefer the room to be unfurnished. Wi-Fi is of course available and the downstairs TV is on the Amazon Firestick. There is a TV point in your room, so if you have your own TV, you can set that up with the Firestick or similar too.

The bathroom is shared and is a good size, bright and clean. There is a bath with an overhead shower - the water pressure is good :)

The room is within our family home and so please be aware that we have young children and animals. The children are well behaved, but not silent, so please expect the usual noises of a family home!

We have 3 dogs and 2 cats. The cats are rarely at home and have all but rehomed themselves with neighbours due to the puppy. Blue is our Chihuahua x Yorkie and she is 8 years old and spends most of her day sleeping after greeting new visitors. Max is our 9 year old German Shepherd, much like Blue, after greeting new visitors, he will go back to sleep. Zeus is our German Shepherd puppy (born March 2024). He is a typically vocal German Shepherd and so will bark when people arrive and at random noises in the garden. He is extremely friendly and loves everyone, however he is already very big and does have a tendency to jump up to greet people (we are working on this!).

We have 6 year old twins who will initially be shy and nervous around new people, but wont take long to come out of their shells. They are really bright and generally very well behaved kids. They attend the local school and we are out and about a lot with them.

Nick is self employed and works from home in the garden office most days, with occasional trips in to London. I am a Director of a law firm and work mixed from home and various offices.

You are of course welcome to use the kitchen and living room, as well as the laundry facilities in the utility room. We also have a lovely patio area with an outside table and a brick built BBQ in our large garden. You are welcome to use these and we have no issue with you having guests over to entertain. We would not be comfortable with large house parties, but small groups of friends is no problem at all and something that we would actively encourage as we are both social people that lived in house shares ourselves when we first met!

We are in and out of the house as part of our usual family routine right now. However, our family intends to relocate to Scotland in the new year. We are looking to bring in some lodgers prior to our departure and we will retain one room for our own personal use as both Nick & I will need to fly down once a month each for work. When we are not there our room will remain vacant. We will usually be down one at a time as the other of us will remain in Scotland with the kids. Very occasionally we will come down all 4 of us (summer holidays etc.).

Please note that this is our family home and we have young children and pets. As such, our home is quieter after around 7:30pm and the children wake up relatively early (usually around 7am). They are generally very calm and quiet in the mornings whilst having breakfast and getting dressed for the day so we do not anticipate you being disturbed, however we cannot of course guarantee this.

The cats are rarely home as mentioned, so the only way we anticipate this impacting you would be if you have allergies.

The dogs do bark when people arrive and occasionally at random things in the garden. We do quiet them as quickly as possible of course as we have neighbours that we really like! The flip side to this though is that with 2 German Shepherds that sleep downstairs in the hall overnight, you wont ever feel anything other than extremely safe! On that note, we have never experienced any crime or anti social behaviour here. It is a family road on which an infants and primary school are located, so the area is very peaceful despite the central location!

Location wise, our home is ideal. You can walk in to the town centre from here and there are a variety of convenience stores and restaurants as well as a couple of pubs. Gatwick is a 5 minute drive away and so a taxi should cost £10-£20 approx. (usually towards the higher end at unsociable hours). London Bridge is 35 minutes on a direct train from Horley train station which is walking distance from our home. All other London stations are also easily accessible and Brighton is 30 mins in the opposite direction.
