Description
Double Room Available – £680 pcm (7 days) / £480 pcm (Mon–Fri)
I have a recently decorated double room available in a super-clean cottage shared with one home-working human, two Border Collies, two parrots, ducks and geese.
This is a happy, relaxed rural household best suited to a calm, respectful animal lover who enjoys countryside living and appreciates a clean, well-organised home environment.
Please note that during the day this is a busy working household, so expect some noise from garden machinery, farm animals, power tools and an energetic cockatoo. If you need complete peace and quiet for working from home, this may not be the right fit.
We are also very much an early-bird household. I am usually up with the birds around 5–6am every day and generally head to bed around 9.30pm, so this home would best suit someone with a similar routine, or at least someone comfortable living alongside it. This is definitely not a late-night or party house.
This is a relaxed home environment but would not suit a heavy drinker, smoker or party lifestyle. Due to previous bad experiences living with alcoholics, I'm happiest sharing my home with someone who drinks lightly or only occasionally and is respectful of the happy atmosphere in the house.
The room offered is a recently decorated, fully furnished double room with fresh bed linen provided.
Additional features include:
• Free street parking on a quiet country lane
• A lovely secluded garden with outdoor seating and BBQ
• Located on the outskirts of Guildford in the picturesque village of Peaslake, within the beautiful Surrey Hills
• Access to country walks, horse riding and mountain biking right on your doorstep
• Broadband and Sky TV
• Bills included
A little about how the house is run
This is not a standard room rental or anonymous house share. It is a well-maintained owner-occupied home, and I take a great deal of pride in keeping it to a very high standard.
The room is serviced, with fresh bed linen changed weekly and regular housekeeping provided. Access to the room is therefore required for cleaning, housekeeping, ventilation and maintenance.
As this is an older cottage, good ventilation is essential. Windows are expected to be opened regularly throughout the year to allow fresh air to circulate and help prevent condensation, mould and mildew. During warmer weather, windows and internal doors may be opened to create airflow through the house.
I completely respect that the bedroom is your personal space and have no interest in your belongings. However, as the room forms part of a serviced, owner-occupied home, access is required for housekeeping, ventilation and maintenance.
I do expect the room to be kept clean, tidy, well ventilated and in the same condition as when you moved in.
This home is likely to suit someone who naturally enjoys living in a clean, organised and well-maintained environment rather than someone who simply tolerates it.
Please keep in mind there is only one bathroom and toilet, which is maintained in spotless condition, and there is no shower.
Good personal hygiene, consideration for the established routines of the household and animals, and an appreciation for a clean, well-maintained home are important.
If you enjoy country living, love animals, appreciate a clean and orderly home, and are looking for a friendly, well-run household rather than a typical house share, this could be a great fit.
Please note: I keep the house to a very high standard of cleanliness, so frying is not permitted in the kitchen. If that's likely to be a problem, this probably isn't the right fit.
